God gave Jacob a new name, Israel, to symbolize his new beginning in the land of Canaan. PASSAGES: Genesis 31:3; 32:7-8, 24-29; 33:3-4. OBJECTIVES: Students will be able to describe how God changed Jacob's name to Israel and how Jacob and Esau reconciled. Memory Verse: Proverbs 3:5-6 - "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths."
